Review: Amara Kitchen

After hearing about Amara Kitchen for months now, I finally decided to make the drive to Highland Park and give it a shot.

Before even looking up the address, I stalked the menu (as I do) to find the most dreamy selection of all-day breakfast bites and healthy lunch favorites. Pretty set on the breakfast burrito, I thought I had solved my usual ordering indecision. Until they were out of the breakfast burrito, to which I was left standing at the cashier dazed and confused.

Approximately four minutes later, I closed on the paleo pumpkin pancakes and the rice & veggie bowl.

Amara Kitchen is a great post-yoga lunch spot, but definitely a bit of a trek if you live well, anywhere outside of Highland Park, Silver Lake, or DTLA. That said, it’s a great little weekend brunch en route to the Rose Bowl, or if you feel like getting away from your usual Sunday routine.

You can check out their dreamy menu here — happy eating!

What to Order at Sqirl in Silver Lake

The Stella | vegan, gf. Sorrel pesto rice w/ kale & radish + avocado.

Kabbouleh Salad | vegan, gf. Kale, crispy rice, cucumber, mint, cauliflower, sumac, Aleppo pepper, currants.

Snickerdoodle Cookie | vegan

Sqirl is hands down one of my favorite brunches in LA. This Silver Lake staple truly has something for everyone, making it a no brainer to take your twenty-year-old brother to…or that girl from yoga you’ve been pretending to make plans with.

With tons of vegan and vegetarian options, I find that Sqirl offers one of the healthiest brunches on the Eastside. But if you are looking to indulge, you won’t want to miss their famed brioche toasts.
